AlleyCat

Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-08-03

These terms are an agreement between you and Julio Buendia, who operates AlleyCat. By using AlleyCat, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Who can use AlleyCat

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you must be at least 16.

You may have one account, it is for you personally, and you are responsible for what happens on it. Keep control of the phone number you sign up with — anyone who can receive its messages can sign in.

What you post

You keep ownership of your reviews, ratings, photos, and saved places.

By posting them, you give us permission to store, display, and share them within AlleyCat so the app can work — showing your review on a place’s page, in your followers’ feeds, and on your profile. This permission ends when the content is removed, except for copies already shared with other users and for backups made in the ordinary course.

You are responsible for what you post. By posting, you confirm you have the right to post it and that it does not break these rules.

Content rules

There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive behaviour on AlleyCat.

Do not post content that is:

  • abusive, harassing, threatening, or hateful
  • sexually explicit, or depicting violence
  • illegal, or that promotes illegal activity
  • someone else’s private information
  • spam, or a commercial advertisement

Do not use AlleyCat to harass, impersonate, or stalk anyone.

Because AlleyCat is about honest recommendations, these also break the rules:

  • posting paid or incentivised recommendations without disclosing them
  • pretending to be another person or business
  • reviewing places you have not actually been to

Reporting and enforcement

If you see content or behaviour that breaks these rules, email support@alleycatmap.xyz.

We may remove any content that breaks these rules, and we may suspend or terminate the account of anyone who breaks them — including immediately and without notice for serious or repeated violations. We are not obliged to review everything posted, but we act on reports.

You can stop using AlleyCat at any time by deleting your account in Settings.

What AlleyCat is not

Recommendations on AlleyCat come from other people and from published guides. They are opinions, not guarantees.

We do not verify that a place is open, safe, accurate as described, or suitable for you. Restaurant details — hours, address, photos — come from third-party sources and can be wrong or out of date. Use your judgement.

Our content

The AlleyCat name, logo, design, and software belong to us. These terms do not give you the right to use them outside the app.

Third-party services

AlleyCat uses Google Places for restaurant data, Mapbox for maps, and Apple for distribution and push notifications. Their terms apply to their parts of the service, and we are not responsible for those services’ content or availability.

Disclaimer and limits

AlleyCat is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100.00) or the amount you have paid us in the past twelve months, whichever is greater.

Some places do not allow these exclusions, in which case they may not apply to you.

Your responsibility

You agree to cover our costs if a claim is brought against us because of content you posted or because you broke these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we both agree to those courts’ jurisdiction.

Changes

If we change these terms we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use AlleyCat after a change means you accept it.
